Lines.Borders.Spaces

Lines.Boundaries.Spaces

A production of theater.prekariat and Schauspiel Stuttgart

In Lines.Boundaries.Spaces, refugees and citizens of Stuttgart together with artists from different fields spend nine months developing a performance on the topic of own and foreign spaces in the biographic and city-specific context:

How do I acquire space? What makes foreign space become my own? Which inclusions and exclusions do I make in the process and how do we negotiate the space that is available to us?

The focus of the whole project is on the exchange among all participants: Which different experiences relating to the urban and intimate space do collide, when artists and actors with different origin, language and residence permit status work together? Which new narratives arise out of it? Which interventions in the existing coordinate system city-space-person are required in order to make it stable for the new narratives?

urban space intervention – a guided city walk through own and foreign spaces

Between discovered and invented space, refugees, citizens of Stuttgart and students of architecture of the University of Stuttgart explore strategies for the acquisition of space, trace events together and expose layers of location-specific narrations.

Universität Stuttgart, Städtebau Institut, Lehrstuhl für Stadtplanung und Entwerfen

A coproduction of theater.prekariat and Schauspiel Stuttgart in cooperation with the University of Stuttgart.

“Public space is the place where people might meet. Often, they hurry past each other though. A theatre project in Stuttgart invites us to look closer. Refugees and students of architecture encounter passersby.“
